6-1-07 The WNYSLC Completes Strategic Plan with $22,000 Grant from The Oishei Foundation
In September of 2001, The Western New York Service-Learning Coalition (WNYSLC) was awarded $22,000 from The John R. Oishei Foundation. With this grant, members of the Coalition participated in a strategic planning process to identify ways to share resources among higher education institutions and non-profits in the region and to increase the number of college students participating in service and volunteerism. The Canisius College Center for Professional Development, led by Maureen Millane Rusk, served as the strategic planning consultant. View picture of strategic planning team.
1-9-07 PACC/NYCC Consortium Awards $40,879 to the WNY Service-Learning Coalition
A federal grant to the Pennsylvania and New York Campus Compact Consortium project, "Building on Our Strengths," will help to establish and to expand campus/community partnerships through eight subgrants to higher education institutions in PA and NY. The WNY Service-Learning Coalition has been selected as one of two campus/community consortia in New York State to be awarded a subgrant. Read more.

The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll responds to President Bush's call to service by building on and supporting the civic engagement mission of our nation's colleges and universities. This new recognition program is designed to increase public awareness of the contributions that college students are making within their local communities and across the country through volunteer service.
